Sony MDR-CD3000 Alternate Earpad Mount (Baffle Ring)
thingiverse
This design serves no purpose beyond concealing Earpad bezels, but those familiar with this Headphone model may be aware that traditional Aftermarket pads like the HM5 simply won't fit due to the outer cup lip being too wide for the bands to stretch and encompass. This alternative mount system will address the issue and add a touch of aesthetics that remains subjective, naturally. My creation includes Handmade Alcantara EarPads with rings spray painted to meet Audiometric color specifications - Blue for the left ear and Red for the right ear. These accents are also featured on the Headband assembly, which I'll upload separately. I made an error in the .STL file, but increasing the scale to 1.1X should resolve the issue, allowing for a snug fit. Feel free to experiment with different scales based on your EarPads' bezel diameter, as this can vary depending on the pads used. For me, 1.1X is perfect. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 100% Notes: I mean, it's just a simple ring. I opted for PLA printing, but I strongly recommend using Ninjaflex instead. I had some on hand but didn't bother due to issues with extrusion. I used PLA because of its glass transition temperature; when Hot-Glue is applied, it conforms to the shape easily and remains intact due to minimal stress on the Thermoplastic Adhesive. Keep in mind that this effect will be more pronounced with less infill, so experiment and find your optimal balance - I had 100% infill and took multiple attempts to achieve the desired angle.
