Sony MDR-1000X (Near Stock Appearance) Replacement
thingiverse
I invested a significant amount of money in these headphones, and since Sony seems incapable of designing a pair that won't malfunction after a year or two of use - specifically, the MDR-v700 springs to mind - I became frustrated and decided to take matters into my own hands. There are other fixes available online, but I wanted to restore my (formerly pricey) headphones to their original condition. After 18 iterations, I've arrived at this design. As I continue to refine it, I'll be posting updates, including a recent revision that features the outer casing with accompanying screenshots and photos for anyone who has encountered issues with the outer piece breaking. My hope is that this solution will save someone else time and prevent their otherwise exceptional headphones from meeting an untimely demise.
