The Sony AZ1 is an excellent choice for those seeking a budget-friendly camera, although it does come with one major drawback: the lack of a gimbal. I overcame this limitation by crafting my own 3-axis gimbal using components sourced from a Sheep China gimbal, specifically the GLB Hobby model. This DIY project has proven to be highly effective, boasting impressive stiffness and robustness. This custom gimbal is ideal for FPV multicopter enthusiasts who require a stabilized HD camera on board their aircraft. I'm eager to share my design with fellow AZ1 users who may be facing similar challenges. In addition, I've also created a 2-axis upper arm, available for download as UpperArm_Inf13_2axis_01.STL, which can aid in converting the Sheep China gimbal (also sold by Banggood) to suit the AZ1. This resource can be found on Thingiverse at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:963340. Key specifications of my custom setup include a ready-to-fly weight of 314g, inclusive of the camera and lens protector, as well as a total height of 120mm.
