Sony E Mount Conversion for Meike / Neewer / Jaray 35mm f/1.7 / f/1.6

This is a mount conversion kit (or replacement) for affordable APS-C / MFT all-metal manual focus 35mm f/1.7 (or f/1.6 depending on marketing labels) prime lenses that are branded Neewer, Meike, and Jaray (there are probably others - chances are good if they look identical externally). You may use the original lens mount's screws. I used this same part to convert both a MFT Jaray and a Fuji X Meike to compare them. The flange distance was different between the two samples, this may be due to manufacturing variations or due to MFT's cover glass thickness. Infinity was nearly spot-on for the Fuji version; the MFT version focused well beyond infinity.

At closer focus distances, these lenses are capable of providing enough sensor coverage for a square crop on full-frame.

Printing the bayonet tabs with supports is recommended but not completely necessary (the tabs will look a bit uglier but printing with or without both provided a good fit to my cameras. The bayonet is threaded internally for a bit of baffling.

There are some pretty tight tolerances on this part, so it will be crucial to ensure your printer is spatially and dimensionally accurate/consistent beforehand.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

I3 MK3S

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.15mm

Infill:

25%

Filament: Generic PLA Black

Notes:

PrusaSlicer was used. 0.2mm first layer, and 0.15mm layers, supports on bayonet tabs only. Detect bridging perimeters was enabled. Concentric infill was used on top and bottom layers. With these settings the part ends up printing with about 3.8mm of extension (0.05mm more than the STL file implies). This is OK.
A smooth level print surface is recommended as the part will be mating with greased smooth level metal components (aperture ring, lens housing).
Post-Printing

Carefully remove any supports with a thin flathead screwdriver or a similar tool. A JIS 0 or PH 0 screwdriver is needed for removing the original mount and installing this one.

Installation orientation is dictated by the orientation of the model in the provided STL file (positive Y is the top of the lens, the screw-hole on negative Y is the bottom of the lens); the screw-holes are 120 degrees apart.

Category: Camera
