To use your old Nikon D40 kit camera's lens with a new Sony NEX-5R, create an adapter that allows mechanical focus, zoom, and aperture control. Print the adapter in PLA without support using MakerWare at "standard" resolution profile, 3 shells, and 20% infill, with temperature set to 220°C. For Nikon lens attachment, align the white dot on the lens with the L-shaped indent on the adaptor ring and screw it in anticlockwise. To adjust aperture, unscrew the lens until the white dot lines up within two indentations on the adaptor. Version 1.1 of this adapter is based on real measurements for accurate focal plane alignment. Use black PLA to avoid support structures during printing, as they are unnecessary and difficult to clean.
