Sony DSC-RX100 m7 tool free cold shoe adapter (Print-in-Place)
thingiverse
Sony DSC-RX100m7 is a great point-and-shoot camera and video camera, but it's missing a cold-shoe mount for attaching external microphone or other cold shoe accessories. This is a tool-free cold shoe attachment that would allow the attachment of a cold shoe accessory. While attached, this will continue to allow the normal deployment of the built-in flash, view finder, focus assist LED, battery and SD card door. The hollow top of the adapter allows you to reach in and retract the built-in flash. This also makes the point-and-shoot camera looking like an old-school film camera body. Attaching the adapter: Slide the adapter over the lens and push the adapter all the way so it is resting flush against the camera body. There is a registration dimple should align with the dimple at the bottom of the lens. Gently squeeze the adapter as shown in photo then closed the latch. This should click in place very securely. Do not apply too much force if the latch does not close on first attempt, use fine (>400 grit) sand paper to very lightly sand the latching post, and try again. Do not apply too much force during sanding, this process is only to provide a slightly smoother surface so the latch would click in place. Be patient, this should only need to be repeated couple of times. Over sanding will make the latch too loose for a secure fit. Retracting the built-in flash: Push the flash in from the front of the camera back into the adapter and then reach in and through the opening at the top to retract the flash back down to its closed position as shown in photo. Be sure to select the correct version of the file to print. I have included STL file with and without the Sony rubber grip attached. If you do not have the grip attached, please choose the SonyR100m7ColdShoe_NoGrip.stl file. This model have fairly tight tolerances. The moving parts have minimum distance of 0.1mm between the parts. Note: in selfie mode, the display will be partially blocked by the adapter, however you will still be able to frame your shot.
