I misplaced my volume knob a few years ago and I've been relying on that tiny plastic stud ever since. I tried getting in touch with Sony but they basically said, "We can't send you a replacement volume control but you can purchase it instead." When I asked them to provide some guidance on where to buy it, they responded by saying, "We have no idea." I finally managed to get my printer up and running so I decided to design and manufacture my own replacement volume knob. It clicks securely into place and grips snugly onto that small plastic stud.
