Sony Beamer (HW65ES) lens shutters
thingiverse
Hello All, In my ongoing quest to elevate my home cinema experience, I've developed a superior system that surpasses my previous ray guides: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2227089. This new design boasts enhanced sturdiness, improved aesthetics, and an even more pronounced "darkening effect." I've captured the difference through photography; take a look to see what it accomplishes. These shutters successfully block unwanted light that doesn't project onto the projection screen, resulting in a darker environment and an amplified cinema experience (dramatically so in many cases). Although designed for a HW65ES, this system is likely adaptable to older or newer models of this projector design as well, with some modification. It might even be transformed to fit non-Sony projectors. The entire setup fits together seamlessly without the need for glue or screws. To print this system, you'll require: Sides Shutter 1 (a very tight fit; I recommend printing at 99% and up to 0.8mm in black before switching colors) Shutter 2 (another extremely tight fit; I suggest printing at 99% and up to 0.8mm in black, then changing colors if desired) Top & bottom lens support (2X) In some cases, printing the top and bottom flat might be helpful, but with the lens support in place, it will sit perfectly around your lens and won't fall off. So, try that first. After printing, I still needed to make some adjustments to the top shutter due to my ceiling placement and lens shift; I had to saw a small portion of the shutter to allow for more flexibility than anticipated. If you print this design successfully and put it into use, please share some photos so others can see it in action. I'd love to see how it performs in your home cinema setup. Best regards, Henri NOTE: Later on, I discovered that my projector was defective, with noticeable light diffusion around the screen. Sony replaced it for me.
