Sony action cams lack standard 1/4-20 mounts, restricting users from attaching their cameras to more exciting rigs. This forces enthusiasts to rely on the camera casing alone, severely limiting functionality - adding external power supplies or microphones becomes virtually impossible. In response, this project was developed for use in time-lapse photography and other activities. This versatile solution can be used with AS-15 action cams but will also work seamlessly with newer models like AS-10 and AS-30, which share similar mounts. To assemble this innovative camera mount, simply glue the front cover, back cover, and base adapter to the mounting plate using a reliable adhesive such as epoxy or Gorilla Glue. If the component parts are made from ABS plastic, users can create their own custom bonding solution by combining acetone with leftover ABS waste for added flexibility. After application of this powerful bonding agent, users may then proceed with securing a 1/4-20 nut to the base adapter. In cases where a particular mount features extremely shallow screw threading - or "shallow" threads as one enthusiast jokingly quipped - further refinement will be necessary before installation is complete. The solution entails careful filing of the base adapter's lower surface area, allowing the user to achieve clearance for easy threading and optimal mounting stability.
