Sony Action Cam Drone mount Update Ver. 3.0
thingiverse
This is a mount I designed for my Sony action cam to fit snugly on top of my Versacopter V2. Due to its longer profile, the action cam didn't fit as nicely as, say, a GoPro would. Update: Version 3 is now up and features a loop with an incredibly tight tolerance that fits the camera perfectly without needing a velcro strap. It appears that double-sided tape doesn't stick well to TPU. To compensate for this, I threaded a couple of zip ties through the front holes on the camera mount and into the drone's body after it flew off during a crash. Fortunately, the camera stayed securely in its mount, proving its functionality. Update: I've created version 2, which involves removing all plastic from the bottom so that the velcro strap can wrap around the entire piece instead of going through small holes. Additionally, I made the back piece where the camera sits thicker to prevent it from becoming damaged after a crash. Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 6 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .25 Infill: 20% Notes: Print vertically with the front of the mount facing down on the build plate. I printed this mount using TPU. Post-Printing: To secure it to your drone, simply wrap a velcro strap around the bottom in the middle and over the camera for a super simple installation. Alternatively, use a piece of automotive molding tape to hold it onto the frame and a couple zip ties through the front square holes as I did with my Versacopter V2. How I Designed This: I used Maya to create this mount by finding measurements for the Sony action cam and designing the case around it accordingly.
