20190314 Update - uploaded "a7iiiLCDHood_005Stronger.stl" which boasts enhanced strength. The original design's walls began to crack after approximately 5 uses, necessitating a redesign. It also features slightly wider tolerances and is now easier to install and remove. What: <ul> <li>Basic LCD screen hood/sun shade for the Sony a7iii.</li> </ul> Why: <ul> <li>It provides an easier viewing experience of the LCD screen in full sunlight or bright indoor situations.</li> <li>Avoids the need to use an external monitor outdoors.</li> <li>Avoids excessive screen brightness, heat generation, and power consumption.</li> </ul> The good: <ul> <li>The design works effectively, making the screen easier to view!</li> </ul> The bad: <ul> <li>The current design is a snug fit, potentially causing stress on the LCD screen mounts with frequent hood installation and removal.</li> <li>The side walls exhibited warping during printing, although this is not a significant issue aesthetically.</li> <li>The side walls are somewhat fragile.</li> <li>The PLA material has a shiny/reflective finish. Future modifications may involve applying matte black spray paint or sanding the surface to achieve a matte effect.</li> <li>The hood fits slightly off-center due to the finger pulls on the left side of the screen, requiring further design refinement to correct this issue.</li> </ul> Given other ongoing projects, revisiting this design is unlikely in the near future.
