This rugged quick release plate for Sony A7II provides rock-solid support for the camera. Since the tripod thread sits directly beneath the sensor plane near the front edge, it can compromise stability. This sturdy quick release plate fixes this issue by offering additional structural support. These plates are compatible with ArcaSwiss designs. I also created a version for older models that comply with DIN4503 standards available on Thingiverse. There are three models to choose from. The first one is the thickest, featuring holes for anti-slip screws. The last model is the most slender for use with extra-short (7.5mm) tripod screws. The design incorporates a built-in support structure to optimize the structural integrity of the contact surface for the screw. To take full advantage of this feature, pause the print after the cylinder beneath the screw hole is complete. Then, apply a piece of polypropylene tape (common transparent sticky tape) on top of the cylinder and push the excess edges into the slit around it. Resume printing by laying down a single layer over the polypropylene tape before the thread starts. Polypropylene has no issues with temperature fluctuations, and the filament does not adhere to it at all. As a result, the support structure pops off after printing, leaving a smooth and condensed surface behind. This method is demonstrated in my video about smart support structures available on YouTube. If you prefer to use conventional or no support, simply delete the cylinder shape in the slicer since it's a separate entity.
