Adapted from the excellent design of Jack Mason for Olympus OM10 SLR Eye Cup https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-olympus-om10-slr-eye-cup-60283

The hotshoe version also use the sony hotshoe design from Anatoly S. https://grabcad.com/library/sony-hotshoe-cover-1

Good news : I consider that this eyepiece design is definitely more comfortable than the Amazon / Aliexpress one I own (18$ , not really cheap), hence for now this is probably the best eyepiece you can find for a A7C. Nota : On my pictures you can see that I shaved the Aliexpress one because it is made of stiff TPU and is too stretch to be comfortable.

If you want to re-use my Fusion 360 design you will be horrified as I'm a noob at 3D design AND working from a STL is not really comfortable.

You can find here several designs depending of the material you will use and your printer capabilities. The best design is definetely the "A7C_Eyecup_Flipscreen_Ready.stl" version, but if you try to print it you will face several challenges :

When printed with 100% TPU it won't stand firmly on the camera

If you try to make a material change during the print (let's say you print 50% TPU then 50% PLA) you'll notice that PLA and TPU don't stick enough together.

Hence you'll have to mix TPU+PLA on some layers to get a durable accessory. I printed it with PLA + TPU, on the first picture you can see Carbon PLA + TPU then on other red PLA + TPU. Thank you to my SOVOL SV02 and Cura for this.

You can also print it using 100% PLA/PET/ABS. The comfort is not so bad.

If you prefer a full TPU accessory, use the Tight_TPU_Eyecup_Sony_A7C.stl (you will need to remove it if you want to flip the screen, but on a sunny day it is still a better choice than nothing.

Enjoy your journey with the missing accessory for the wonderful A7C

FEEDBACK July/2022 : 2 months and several treks later, the Eyecup_Flipscreen_Ready version is still fully operationnal, still satisfying.

Print Settings

Printer:

SOVOL SV02

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

NO

Filament: TPU TPU

Notes:

No support needed
Infill is not necessary/usefull

Use 3 walls and enable thin walls

You can enable "make overhang printable" in Cura to get a smoother design

Post-Printing

TPU will probably make stringing, easy to clean afterwards

How I Designed This

FUSION 360

Category: Camera
