Kneeling Youth, believed to be Ilioneus, son of Niobe, Munich's Staatliche Antikensammlungen und Glyptothek, Greek classical period, circa 300 B.C., acquired in 1897, plaster replica, The Royal Cast Collection (Copenhagen, Denmark). Created with Memento Beta from AutoDesk. In ancient Greek mythology, Niobe was a daughter of Tantalus and Dione, most commonly credited, or possibly Eurythemista or Euryanassa, making her the sister of Pelops and Broteas. Her father is known as "Phrygian" and sometimes referred to as the "King of Phrygia". Niobe took pride in her fourteen offspring, seven males and seven females (the Niobids), boasting about them to Leto, who only had two children, Apollo and Artemis.
