I took this amazing [design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2785736) from [Rufian](https://www.thingiverse.com/Rufian/about) and broke it down into three sections for easier printing. I pushed it even further by incorporating [this design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2591310) from [SodaPopin5ki](https://www.thingiverse.com/SodaPopin5ki/about) for Engine Exhausts and Fins. It's designed so you can paint the engine bay first before assembling and get some nice detail there. Enjoy! 3/11/2018 edit: I replaced the Parts 1 and 2 file as it printed out with a bunch of air pockets that caused weak walls and such. Also, the details for the engine exhausts were too small so it came out a hot mess. I've filled the air pockets to be solid and redesigned the exhausts to have thicker walls so they should print out better. As I print these files out myself, I'll be correcting them as I see errors. Do comment here if you are printing them out and let me know errors you may encounter. 3/13/2018 edit: So as a whole, this model doesn't print out great. As suspected, I think this was just modeled for 3D rendering and then converted to an stl. There's a lot of air pockets and segments with spaces between them. As I'm printing these out and seeing what's been going wrong, I've been correcting them. Along the way, I've also been improving the model itself. I'm also going a little overboard and adding details to it. I've made a see-through cockpit canopy as well as an actual basic interior cockpit. And lastly, I've been adding compartments in case you wanted to add LED or fiber optic lighting to the model. So it's a lot of revisions. I'm going to sit tight until I've got this model where I am happy with and then update this page with them all at once so there's no more which is the most updated and corrected model. I'm hoping to have it all done within a week but we'll see! So stay tuned. 3/26/2018 edit: I mentioned it in the comments but hopefully I'll be releasing a "final" version of this model later this week. I need to print test runs of both Parts 2 and 3 to make sure there are no problems. Part 1 has printed out fine. I've also redesigned Part 3 so that the cockpit is separate with a separate cockpit and canopy that is see through. I'll also have a solid cockpit for those who don't want to go crazy and include a miniature cockpit and crew inside like I do. Most retail FDM printers probably won't be able to print these parts out nicely. SLA printers could probably do it well. I ordered the parts from Shapeways in ultra detail frosted and they turned out great. You can use Z scale train figures that will fit in the cockpit. I kinda went overboard with this. The peg will also work on large base X-Wing The Miniatures Game pegs. And lastly, as an afterthought once I have all this set, I'll design a landing gantry for the model for display. It will just be six landing legs in a frame that the Falcon can rest on, with the passenger ramp lowered. So stay tuned!
