Solidoodle Dial Indicator Rail Mount
thingiverse
Attach a dial indicator mount directly to your Solidoodle 2 (or possibly 3) carriage using the X axis rails for consistent bed level readings. The railcrossing part fits snugly around both rails, with filing potentially needed on the back rail. A crosshatch pattern and extra holes provide strain relief during printing. Drill or file magnet holes to fit flush with the surface and epoxy 1/4 inch neodymium magnets in place. The openscad source is available for tweaking if necessary. Next, print the dialclamp part, drilling and tapping M3 bolt holes as needed. Attach the dial indicator, ensuring it can't move up but not crunching the plastic. Glue the railcrossing with magnets to the rails, and the dialclamp with the dial indicator for bed measurements.
