Solidoodle Case Riser Kit
thingiverse
This Thing offers an elevated Solidoodle case with 25mm increased clearance above the extruder, preventing filament stripping issues. The design utilizes thumbscrews for a secure fit and easy removal without the need for a screwdriver. However, drilling new holes in the back of the Solidoodle case is necessary for proper fitting. The parts are available in STL format with individual objects, and should be printed using ABS filament with 0.2mm infill. Big overhangs on risers require support during printing, and filing or Dremel work may be needed to fit the pillars over blind rivets. Epoxy is recommended for gluing pillars in place, while rubber can be added to reduce rattling. A polycarbonate window or plywood can fill the front space. The risers at the front corners of the case should have clearance provided for rivet heads and secured with 1/8" blind rivets or small nuts and bolts. Modified thumb screws accommodate M3 screws, but may need additional work on unsupported overhangs. Lastly, new clearance holes in the rear flange of the Solidoodle case are necessary for a snug fit, and a strip of stout card can be added inside the top rear flange to cover redundant clearance holes.
