Solidoodle 3 Dial Indicator Mount
thingiverse
To address my missing dial indicator mount, I designed a new one that securely attaches to my extruder via magnets while locating itself around three bolts. For reference, my SD3 bed had 0.31mm variance between its highest and lowest points. Utilizing six millimeter diameter neodymium magnets, available at this Amazon link, and a dial indicator found here, print the mount before drilling screw hugger holes with a 5.5mm bit for a tight fit. Slight sanding may be necessary; however, it's crucial to maintain dimensional stability. The mount's ease of removal, reattachment, and precise measurements make locating the nozzle contact point, zeroing the indicator, and scanning the bed effortless. To ensure rigidity and prevent sagging overhangs from altering dimensions, print with thick walls and use supports during the process.
