SolidCore CoreXY 3D Printer - A Revolutionary Design by Shane Hooper & Mike Fisher. This innovative printer is designed with flexibility in mind, boasting modular components and scalable capabilities that can easily adapt to larger formats. Linear rails provide smooth motion and precise control, making it an ideal choice for demanding printing applications. The Bill of Materials (BOM) utilizes widely available and standard parts, allowing users to convert their existing printers into a SolidCore CoreXY 3D Printer with ease. The enclosure is designed to be easily added, providing a secure and stable printing environment. High-quality metal components or printable alternatives are used throughout the design, ensuring durability and reliability. Future updates may include reorienting the Y-axis linear rail for improved stability, redesigning carriage components, and optimizing motor/belt mounting plates for maximum performance. The initial design placed motors on top of the machine, but after machining, it was determined that this could cause deflection in the main plates. A possible solution involves combining carriage components and rail support into a single piece, similar to E3D's Tool Changing printer. Budget constraints have led Shane Hooper & Mike Fisher to "recycle" parts from previous builds, utilizing materials such as 3/8 inch thick aluminum for the bed, which will be upgraded to 1/4 inch thick once more funds are available. The left motor plates will be re-machined to accommodate a tool changer setup. The overall footprint of the machine is somewhat larger than necessary, given its print volume capabilities. To achieve a solid enclosure design, motors were moved inside the frame boundary, sacrificing some printer size to print volume ratio. This innovative design draws inspiration from other notable 3D printers like RailCore, HyperCube Evolution or HEVO, D-Bot, Mike Fisher's QuadRod, and Maarten van Lier's corexy build. Regular updates will be posted as the project continues to evolve, with a focus on refining the design and improving performance.
