Solid Z-Axis Spring Holder for Lulzbot TAZ
thingiverse
Revamp your Lulzbot TAZ 2.0/3.0 3D printer with this modified Z-Axis holder part, ensuring compatibility and functionality across both models. The original design had a curved shape that caused flex and inaccuracies in the Z-axis; this upgrade offers a solid block of plastic for increased rigidity. Replace two old holders with the new .stl file printouts (ABS/PLA), removing support before installation. Homing all axes, move the X-axis to the right, and unscrew the old holders while moving the Z-axis to 250mm. Manually unscrew the last part and destroy original holders. Melt new holder's plastic around metal grub nuts using a soldering iron, then insert springs and nuts in place of originals for secure fitting. Finally, reinstall the new holders and enjoy improved Z-axis rigidity, potentially boosting print quality. Note that this work is derived from LulzBot's original TAZ 2.0 designs, available at https://download.lulzbot.com/TAZ/2.0/.
