Solid State Relay Box

Solid State Relay Box

This is a solid state relay box for controlling a 120v load. I presume it will work for 240v too but don't have a way to check this. AC connections are set up around C14 male and female plugs with screw mount sockets. Some parts were purchased from a local supplier and some from Amazon. Space is included for a 12v power supply board to run a 40mm fan to cool the SSR attached to a heat sink. The control connection is made using a JST connector l soldered breadboard. I used a 2 position JST connector but left enough room for a 4 position connector so you can bring 12v from your power supply if you don't want to use a power supply in the box. I bought my SSR locally but still used Kapton tape to put a thermal cutoff on the SSR in case it overheats. I used Wago lever nuts to make internal AC connections but wire nuts would work ok too. It sounds like SSR's fail on so be sure to use appropriate safety controls on the load. In my case, it was another thermal cutoff as its running my heated bed. If, like me, you're not very familiar with SSR's, I noticed there are a couple different types and they don't all work well for all load types. So do your homework. After printing mine a made a few minor changes but did not reprint. Materials list*12v 1A power supply. 24x60 mm spacing. I used computer standoff to lift this a bit. You will need to bend spade connectors on c14 female socket to get this to fit well.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PG6B6N4*Heat sink SSR spacing 68mm. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HQQCDY1*Bread board Hole spacing 1 1/8" x 1 3/8". Purchased locally, this might be a bit hard to match. I used a couple of extra nuts on the mounting screws to act as standoff. *C14 female connector 40mm hole spacing. Purchased locally but I think its fairly standard. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0147XUWYO *C14 fused and switched male connector 40mm hole spacing. There is another form factor that has the holes on the top and bottom. Make sure you get the one with holes on the side. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NWLE4U6
