Solenoid locking mechanism

Solenoid locking mechanism

thingiverse

This is my first take on an electromagnetic locking mechanism. For this build I used the ***12V 6N JF-0630B*** pull push electromagnet which turned out to be a bit problematic as this electromagnet is designed to be in the engaged state for only a few seconds after which the temperature starts to rise uncontrollably (or I am just dumb at wiring stuff). That said, I kinda like the fail-safe design where when the system is out of power, the spring pushes the rod (the rod might still jam if a higher pressure is applied directly to it) away effectively opening the lock (ideal when battery powered).
