This is a case and a stand for a high-quality soldering station that's perfect for handling even demanding SMT components. Based on a commercially available soldering tip with built-in temperature sensor, this device makes soldering a breeze. The entire project is detailed on my website: http://www.oe1cgs.at/smd-loetstation/ I printed the individual parts in two colors - black and red - as I think it looks nicer that way. PLA works well for me since the station is typically used indoors, but it can be powered by a 12 V battery, making it suitable for use "in the field". In addition to the printed parts, you'll also need the soldering tip and all necessary electronics. Here's what you'll need: * 4 self-tapping screws - 3x12 mm * 4 self-tapping screws - 3x6 mm * 2 M2.5x20 mm screws and nuts * A tube (I used stainless steel) with a 12 mm outer diameter and 45 mm length This tube is glued into the tip holder, protecting the tip from accidental contact or damage. The bottom of the tip holder is designed to be filled with water, greatly increasing its stability.
