Soldering Station Fume Extractor
thingiverse
I recently decided to move a soldering station into my office, mainly just for convenience's sake. Since it's located close to living space, air filtration is crucial. I designed a simple carbon filtered extraction fan mount/holder for the station. Honestly, this project was mostly made from parts I had lying around, so its usefulness to others is uncertain. This design consists of three main components: 1. Main Fan/Filter holder 2. Soldering station fan mount 3. Control box The soldering station used was at the time a top seller on Amazon. It can be found here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0719H8T8Q/ Everything except the fan mount for the station should work with any setup, and it's easy to create something to hold the fan in place. The Control box includes a Micro USB breakout board, an XL6009 Step Up boost converter, a 5mm LED, and a random switch. As this project was made from spare parts, I had an old microphone 'pop' filter with a handy metal bendable pole. The Pole is 8mm thick, so finding something similar should be straightforward. If you want to use the exact thing I did, I'll provide a link to the listing. https://ebay.us/sqDV1E The pole is held up at the station side with a bearing (LM8UU). I strongly advise using the 'Igus DryLin' type of bearings as ball-bearing types may get caught on the pole.
