Soldering smoke extractor fan adapter with filter
thingiverse
I designed this system because I was tired of inhaling soldering smoke while working on my workbench and the fan blowing directly against my wall of parts bins. It's not 100% efficient at removing fumes unless you exhaust it outside, but the filter does an excellent job of removing smoke. The original fan filter that I adapted seemed to work well too, but I still smelled the smoke coming back towards me, so I added this system to remove it from my area and filter it outdoors. The filter was added to clean the air before it exits in case my dogs sniff on the exhaust vent. The gasket in the STLs is intended for TPU filament and works well, but I haven't printed it with any other flexible materials. The fan duct still needs tweaking because the nut size came out a tad small, so I had to install the screws backwards to make it work. I plan to correct this eventually, but for now, I have other priorities that need my attention. To assemble this system, you'll need to use the same size screws that come with the smoke remover, but a little longer, to install the fan duct. You can also try using whatever size works best.
