Soldering Plate Mold
thingiverse
I was making 1mikey77's Ultimate Helping Hand Jig, and found he hadn't included the mold for the soldering plate. I downloaded the file from his instructable, then made a terrible mess out of oogoo trying to use it (it's just a hexagonal ring mold). I designed and printed this mold instead, which does away with the need for nonstick surfaces. See the instructions. Instructions Prepare the mold and lid with a release agent, like paste wax or vaseline. Mix silicone caulk and corn starch in a 1:1 ratio to form "oogoo" (see the oogoo instructable for more details). Load it into the mold, and slap the lid on; it should stick by itself. After waiting a while for it to set, you should be able to pry it apart and remove the plate, which you can then attach to your helping hands jig as a heat resistant surface for soldering on. The mold has 8 degrees of draft on the side walls to help with the demolding.
