Soldering Iron Holder (for Aoyue B004)
pinshape
Summary I recently purchased an Aoyue SMD tweezer for a project, which came with a bonus soldering iron, but no holder to match. At first, I thought I'd have to buy one, but then a friend suggested I just 3D print one instead. The iron-holding head snaps into the base with ease. It's a bit lightweight, yet it gets the job done efficiently. By the way, I much prefer my trusty Hakko iron, which has been my go-to for over two decades. I usually keep that at my office. The Aoyue is decent – not outstanding – but it's now my home iron for weekend projects. It's a significant improvement over those cheap 15-watt irons you can find anywhere for a few bucks. Instructions After printing the head, you'll need to trim off the base. You may also want to clean out the interior of the socket that will receive the iron holder head. I printed mine with relatively low infill, so it tends to slide around unless you anchor it down. To avoid this, I simply use my pinky finger to hold and remove the iron as needed. Adding rubber feet can help keep the stand in place securely. Perhaps not immediately, but I'd like to refine this design further, which is why I'm labeling this project as work-in-progress for now.
