Soldering Fume Extractor (Up to 40mm Deep 120mm Fan)
thingiverse
I started printing the body of SethBon's fume extractor before realising I had a 240Vac 120mm fan. This fan is 40mm deep (much deeper than the usual 120mm PC fan...) but I had already printed the body. I was lucky that the deeper fan fit in the front part (Fume_Extractor_120mm_Body.stl), saving me from a reprint. However, I required a deeper enclosure. So, I extended SethBon's original back piece to give enough space for the 40mm fan. The back piece nicely holds my charcoal filters (about 125x125x10mm).I also replaced the holes for a barrel jack and switch with a gap that fits an IEC socket I had spare (for 240Vac and to ground the metal fan body).I miss a switch being on there, probably the front, so I may.. one day.. cut out a switch hole and rewire it.Also note the screw holes on the back piece are not threaded. Either use nuts and bolts (I'd imagine this being quite fiddly) or screws with a large enough thread to grab the plastic (my holes are 5mm in diameter). It works an absolute treat, the fan moves a lot of air!
