Even dishwashing wool ball (provided the kind that won't burn) is better than using abrasives like sandpapers or files to clean the tip. You can clean the tip easily by plunging into the housing during soldering sessions before re-tinning the tip to continue working. You can reduce size to 75% scale if your wool ball is smaller. This would also make it pack tighter, could be desirable in some situations.
