Solder Robot

In Olin College's POE class, we crafted a robot that aimed to join stripped wires by soldering them together. Despite its imperfections, like a faulty solder feeder mechanism, the project was an exciting learning experience. Our robot could manipulate wires, twist and heat them, but required manual application of solder for joint completion. The resultant solder joints were large and not electrically efficient. However, this robot building endeavor with Breauna Campbell and Nick Lapin included documenting our work on https://sites.google.com/site/solderbotfa2012, showcasing electrical, software, and mechanical aspects. Our project's gallery can be found at the same site. I personally focused on base design, electronics, and camera-based control, which is why some images depict vision control processes.
