Solder fume extractor

Solder fume extractor

thingiverse

Aiming for a long-lasting solution, I created a solder fume extractor using 6.7 mm plywood and a salvaged computer fan (Antec, 91.6 mm). The three-speed selector may not be necessary on the lowest setting. The 12V power supply is repurposed from an old portable CD rewriter. To construct the extractor, use a CNC with a straight bit (minimum 2.1 mm diameter) or lasercut in 1.5 mm depth passes (I used 1.9 mm diameter). Assemble it like a Makerbot with M3x20 bolts, nuts, and washers. Install the switch before adding a light coat of varnish to protect it. Enjoy fume-free soldering sessions!
