"Inspired by" the Hakko FA-400, this is a solder fume extractor designed to be used either horizontally for greater suction speed or verically for greater suction volume. In the .stl files attached, it is configured to use a 120mm fan and the 130mm by 130mm carbon filter that goes with the actual Hakko extractor and its various knockoffs. The filters for the Weller benchtop fume extractor should also fit. The .scad file is parametric, so changing to a different sized fan or filter should just be a matter of changing a few numbers. Instructions Adjust the .scad file to fit a different sized fan or filter if you don't want to use a 120mm fan with a 130mm filter. Print out the fume_extractor.stl 3.Optional: Print out the filter_holder.stl if the filter is loose. I found that it fit in snugly without the holder, but if the filter is falling out, you can use one. 4.Optional: Print out a fan grill for the other side of the fan. Here is the one I made for my 120mm fan: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17028 5. Screw the fan into the extractor with fan screws if you have them of 1/2" #6 bolts if you don't. 6. Insert the filter, and optionally slide the holder in over it. 7. Power the fan. I used a 12v wall wart that I had left over from something else. Category: Other
