Solder Fume Extractor

Solder Fume Extractor

I designed a solder fume extractor around the commonly available 5 1/8" (130mm) square filters, 120mm AC fan, and the LocLine articulated hose. I had a couple primary design goals. First, a friend convinced me of the need for a hose. With some research, I found LocLine and designed a part for it to snap into. It fits into the groove on the front part, but in my print it was not tight enough to keep from rotating, so I epoxied it in place. Second, in most of the designs I've seen, the filter is close to a fan, not allowing all of the filter material to be used. As more filter material is used for the same volume of air, the slower airflow through the filter, allowing the electrostatic effects in the filter to be more effective. You'll need to print two of the filter holders. You can use a band of tape around the pieces under the sleeve to keep it all together more tightly.
