Solder Fan
thingiverse
I figured it was time to give a fume extractor a shot for my first published design, which came about from working with my local maker space and how we could quickly and cheaply get extractors for soldering. So I took the initiative to design something fairly simple and affordable to make. The design centers around a 120mm PC fan powered by a 12v wall wart through a switch. A bent metal coat hanger provides support where needed, although it's not essential if you don't want to use that feature. I printed all of the items in ABS, but this could easily be made in PLA too, as there is no real stress or strain put on the parts and heat should never be an issue. The design was created in Solidworks, and I've included the original files along with step files for each part so feel free to customize them for switches and jacks etc. Let me know of any improvements or customizations you make – I'd love to see them!
