Solder Cableholder with Weights
thingiverse
I created a more substantial Cableholder by modifying the original design in 123dDesign, allowing me to insert lead weights at the bottom for added stability. To achieve this, I scavenged surplus lead from wall anchors and crafted a mold using lightweight aluminum. The indentations in the mold measured precisely 20mm x 30mm x 5mm. Next, I carefully heated the lead in the mold with a propane torch until it reached its melting point. Once cooled, I removed the lead rectangle from the mold. To attach the lead weights to the Cableholder, I reheated them slightly to ensure they were hot enough to melt the PLA but not the lead. With quick precision, I dropped the lead rectangle into the indentation and inverted the Cableholder, pressing it firmly flush into place. **Be extremely cautious when working with molten lead and open flames if you are inexperienced.**
