Sometimes I would study high school physics and get really fascinated with radiation dosimeter badges. They just looked cool to me. Yesterday, I got my hands on some super cool UV-sensitive filament that changes color when exposed to a UV source - like the sun. So, I designed this little badge that changes color when it's exposed to sunlight. The case is made from PLA, so you can choose any color you want. Just find a nice leather cord to hang it with. The middle insert is printed with UV-sensitive filament, and when it's exposed to sunlight, it turns purple. The middle part - the circle - has the biggest area, so it changes color first. The sun flares - the triangles - have smaller exposing areas and are obstructed by PLA, which means they usually don't change color or barely change at all. But when they do start changing color, that's a sign that sunlight is strong enough to pass through the PLA layer and reach the UV-sensitive filament underneath. When this happens, you know it's time to put on some sunscreen. Printer Settings Printed on: Prusa i3 Printer Rafts: Doesn't matter Supports: No Notes: The insert plate must be printed with UV-sensitive filament in order for the color-changing mechanism to work properly.
