The Solar System is a vast and wondrous expanse of celestial bodies that revolve around our star, the Sun. At its center lies the Sun itself, a massive ball of hot, glowing gas that gives off incredible amounts of energy and light. The planets, which are rocky or gaseous worlds, orbit the Sun in elliptical paths, each one unique in its size, composition, and atmosphere. The eight major planets in our Solar System include Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Each of these planets has its own distinct features, from the scorching hot temperatures on Mercury to the icy cold conditions on Neptune. The dwarf planet Pluto is also part of this system, though it's much smaller than the major planets. In addition to the planets, our Solar System contains numerous smaller objects like moons, asteroids, and comets. These objects are remnants from the formation of the Solar System over four billion years ago, when gravity pulled together tiny particles of dust and gas. Today, they continue to orbit around the Sun, some of them influencing the orbits of the major planets.
