Sunscreen for outdoor temperature sensor. Ever wonder why your outdoor temperature sensor is reading far too high values? It's due to thermal radiation, which can be minimized by using a white shield. Ideally, the sensor should be placed at least 2 meters away from buildings and tarmac in an elevated position of about 2 meters height. I use a Technoline TX22 with my WS1600 weather station, and I've seen a significant improvement after relocating the sensor to a sun-protected area. The reading now shows around 10 degrees Celsius less than before, when it was installed under the roof in the shade. The design allows for stacking parts, making it adaptable to any height or scale requirements. I've also added new STL files labeled as V2, along with a FEM picture and a cut picture from the CAD system. The updated shields have no gaps where radiation could seep through, which is crucial if you're installing the shield on your roof like I did. The holder has been strengthened, and the screens are now thinner to reduce weight. I've also improved the joining parts with flat sides for smoother insertion and a bit of tension. However, be aware that the lowest shield may need minor adjustments as it currently collides with the holder. Maybe I'll revisit this later. Have fun! July 2019: I added a new holder with increased torsion stiffness to combat high wind loads, which was an issue with my original design.
