Solar Radiation Shield for DHT11

Solar Radiation Shield for DHT11

Solar Radiation shields safeguard temperature and humidity sensors from scorching heat while basking in direct sunlight. Most sensors, like the DHT11, produce readings that soar above expectations when exposed to direct sunlight. This is due to direct exposure to sunlight heating up both the sensor enclosure and the sensor itself. Consequently, the readings are accurate, but not reflective of actual air temperature or humidity. This 3D print shields a DHT11 sensor from solar radiation and rain while permitting airflow for precise readings. I suggest printing this design using white filament that will deflect as much solar radiation as possible. A pocket allows the DHT11 to snap into place with space for wires at the bottom. A spot at the bottom accommodates an M4 screw for mounting. Supports are necessary for this print due to the vent structure producing numerous bridges and overhangs.
