Solar panel window frame
thingiverse
I built a frame for my solar panel, a 30W unit used at home and on camping trips to charge phones and power LEDs. Since I spend more time at home than outdoors, I designed this frame to attach it in a south-facing window, powering my server and helping pay bills. This setup might inspire others to create something similar. The mount can be removed in 10 seconds, but the window opens with everything attached, which is usually enough. I used 3D-printed connections and M8 threaded rods for their durability. I also made a lower window mount using M3 screws and an aluminum L profile to fill a gap at the bottom of the window. Keep in mind that this setup is not very efficient due to its dual-purpose design, but it makes sense with my existing solar panel. My window reduces efficiency by 50%.
