Solar Finder, Adjustable with Dovetail Mount

Solar Finder, Adjustable with Dovetail Mount

thingiverse

I crafted my own solar finder for my telescope, perfect for the upcoming solar eclipse this summer. Knowing a fixed finder would not be centered properly on my scope, I designed it to be adjustable. This versatile finder will attach securely to any telescope equipped with a dovetail finder-scope mount. To print your very own solar finder, follow these steps: I printed mine at 0.2mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle, and you can expect great results with similar settings. The main body of the solar finder should be printed in transparent plastic to allow sunlight to pass through the rear disk, making it easy to see the crosshairs on the rear plate. On the other hand, print the front plate in black or a dark color to maximize contrast and make the rear plate's markings stand out. To complete your solar finder, you'll need some extra hardware: M3 locknut Washer(s) Screw
