Solar Filter For Canon PowerShot SX530 HS
thingiverse
The Canon PowerShot SX530 HS is a 50X superzoom camera that can be reprogrammed using CHDK (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK) for about $200 new, and even less as a factory refurb. This camera zooms to an equivalent of 1200mm, making it perfect for photographing the moon, the Sun, or an eclipse like the one visible in most of the USA on August 21, 2017. However, it requires a solar filter, but pre-made ones are expensive and the SX530 doesn't even have a filter thread. To solve this problem, a 3D printable filter holder for AstroSolar film is available to bayonet onto the front of the lens. If you don't want to use an SX530, there's no need to worry; the standard screw-thread mount version has been posted at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2485988 as a customizer script allowing you to specify the thread size of your lens.
