Solar Filter adapter for Celestron 70mm Telescope
thingiverse
In preparation of the impending Mercury transit, I thought it would be a good idea to acquire a solar filter for my little Celestron 70mm travelscope. Rather than pay a large amount for a premade filter, I figured it would be more cost-effective to purchase a sheet of filter material and print my own adapter. This adapter is designed specifically for use with a Celestron 70mm aperture telescope. This telescope boasts an outer diameter of 100mm (3.937"). This adapter securely holds a 4" by 4" square solar filter sheet, utilizing six 6mm diameter by 3mm magnets to firmly hold it in place. The magnets should be glued in position; CA glue worked perfectly for me. If your printer can handle high-angle overhangs, set the support angle to 70 degrees to minimize support generation in the corners.
