Solar Filter Frame For 10" Dobsonian Designed specifically for an Apertura AD10, a 10-inch dobsonian reflector, and utilizing Baader's AstroSolar Safety Film 5.0 in a 200mm x 290mm sheet. I crafted it to fit snugly inside the tube's internal diameter of approximately 290mm. The outside diameter of the filter sleeve measures 289mm. Meanwhile, the outside diameter of the frame is 350mm, with an internal diameter of 190mm. To assemble this solar filter frame, you will need to print four copies of each file and align the top frame at a 45-degree angle relative to the bottom frame when bolting them together. I printed my initial prototype with only a 15% infill rate and 0.3mm layer height for expedience's sake, but it lacked substantial strength. If possible, I recommend increasing the infill percentage for added durability. My print was conducted on a highly modified Ender 3 Pro; you will require a similar-sized print area of approximately 235mm x 235mm. Materials Used: 16 pieces - M4x12mm bolts 32 pieces - M4 washers 16 pieces - M4 nuts Double-sided tape for securing the solar film Update 7/21/19: As depicted in one of the photographs, I utilized a 3D pen to weld parts together in four locations underneath the filter frame. This is not essential if you do not possess a 3D pen; however, it does enhance rigidity and stability.
