Update: YouTube: https://youtu.be/wc3J8u5KAgE This solar controller converts an 18v or 20v solar panel input into a 12v output using the LM2596 DC-DC step-down. It's designed for a Raspberry PI 3 with a 7-inch monitor to run solely on solar power, but can also be used for other devices. LM2596 adjustment guide: https://youtu.be/s7_B0LqUKuM LM2596 specs: Input voltage range: 3v - 40v Output voltage range: 1.5v - 35v Maximum output amps: 3 amps Fan details: Size: 50mm X 50mm X 11mm Voltage: 12v Current draw: .03 amps to .04 amps Push button specifications: Button type: 3 amp push button A 30-watt solar panel was used with the LM2596. At maximum daylight output, adjustments were made to set the LM2596 from 19 v to 12.6 volts. Different solar panels may require different voltage settings due to varying output voltages. The LM2596 has a maximum amp output of 3 amps, so it's essential not to exceed this limit or risk overheating the chip. A 3D Pen was used to reinforce the plug and secure the LM2596 in place. For removal, a hot air gun can be employed.
