Solar battery charger case

This is a case for a solar battery charger. It can charge from USB or the Sun, and it delivers USB power when switched on. It is based on a set of parts from Adafruit:

USB / DC / Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger - v2

Medium 6V 2W Solar panel - 2.0 Watt

Lithium Ion Battery Pack - 3.7V 6600mAh

PowerBoost 500 Basic - 5V USB Boost @ 500mA from 1.8V+

Breadboard-friendly SPDT Slide Switch
It is also held together with M3 nuts and bolts, and I had to solder a different connector on the solar panel (not to mention solder together the parts inside).
I usually tuck the charger into a pocket and pin the solar panel to the outside of my bag, so that it accumulates charge while I'm out in the Sun. The button was meant to be sewn onto the bag so that the panel could be looped over the button but for the moment I'm using safety pins.

The battery is slightly big for the device, so I print it in PETG and then the springiness of the plastic keeps the battery from moving around. Other internal components are held by pegs.

Print instructions

Category: Gadgets Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Rafts: No

Supports: Yes

Resolution: 0.15 mm

Infill: default

Filament: Generic PETG Translucent
Notes:

The flanges that hold it together need supports to print.
