Sojourner Probe Model

Enjoy this Sojourner Rover model, I highly recommend using it as my first player marker when playing Terraforming Mars. The design is inspired by the real rover but with added robustness to withstand being placed in a box with numerous heavy components. This means the model needs to be able to endure rough handling without easily breaking. The assembly process is relatively straightforward. To get started, you will need to print the following parts: * 4 of wheel-front-back.stl * 2 of middle-wheel.stl * 6 of wheel axel-2.stl * 2 of combined wheel arm.stl (be sure to mirror one of them) * 2 of sensor eye.stl * 2 of face bracket.stl * 1 of sensor-bar-front.stl * 1 of body.stl * 1 of battery.stl * 1 of solar array.stl Keep in mind that the assembled model weighs only 39.5g, so it's not a massive print job. To assemble the model, start by attaching the face brackets to the sensor-bar-front and then connect them to the body. Next, place the sensor eyes onto the body where the sensor bar allows space. Attach the sensor, battery, and solar array to the body as well. Then, attach the wheels to the combined wheel arms and secure them with the wheel axels. Finally, attach the combined wheel arms to the body. To ensure a smooth assembly process, you will need flush cutters or an exacto knife to clean up some edges. However, if your printer is accurate, you may not need to do much work at all. Places that tend to require attention are: 1. The sensor hole on the body may need trimming 2. The holes to attach the wheels to the wheel arm may need trimming (I print with supports but they still sag a bit) 3. The axles on front and back may not fit all the way, trim 1mm off the small end (the hole in the wheel arm ends up drooping) 4. Print the wheel arm with supports as well 5. If you have trouble printing the small parts, try printing at a larger scale 6. Don't forget to have fun mixing and matching colors!
