Soft Robotic Quadruped - First Draft
thingiverse
This prototype didn't work as planned but the next version is due out in April. To create your own soft robotic quadruped, follow these steps. First, print the left and right wax molds and acetone smooth them for cracks. Pour silicone into the molds when they are ready. Print both sides of the shells and bolt them together with 1/4-40 screws. Slide the waxes into the mold and cast the silicone. The best silicones for this project include Smooth-On Dragon Skin and a 50/50 mix of Dragon Skin and Eco Flex. After curing, boil the quadruped in soapy water to remove the wax. Check http://bit.ly/softrobots and http://har.ms/blog/print-your-own-robot-part-8/ for more details on this process.
