Soft fingers for printed hand

Silicone-tipped fingers significantly enhance grip but inevitably wear down rapidly. To extend their lifespan, consider applying an extra protective layer. Combining silicone and fiberglass alone results in a rigid material that requires additional cushioning. A dedicated silicone 'cushion' is essential to achieve the desired flexibility. To create this durable finger, start by printing and molding it. Next, fill the mold with liquid silicone and gently press the finger into place. Once dry, carefully remove the finger from the mold. Apply a small amount of silicone caulk on one side of the finger and spread loose fiberglass fibers evenly across its surface. Work the fibers in one direction, rotating either clockwise or counterclockwise around the finger to ensure even coverage. As needed, add more layers of silicone to reinforce the structure. Once this layer has dried, you can trim off any excess fiberglass ends or apply a final thin coat of silicone for added durability.
