I crafted this snare to fit securely onto a standard 16 or 20 ounce soda bottle. It features a recessed, tapering opening similar to most other insect traps, and a keyhole for hanging it on a drywall screw. The threads are "PCO-1881" and should complement many other containers. There's also a spout for pouring. You can utilize this to fill the trap; some individuals have suggested that it makes it easier for insects to locate the opening and enter the trap. Some websites recommend covering the traps with a sock, so they're dark and inviting to insects. This appears to be effective against spiders, but hasn't altered my results with mosquitoes up to this point. Instructions I've successfully captured bees and flies, but I haven't discovered the ideal bait for mosquitoes yet. If you have something that works, please post it! So far, I've tried: sugar water with yeast (brown and white sugar) stagnant pond water Gatorade (contains electrolytes like human sweat) rotten orange juice hummingbird nectar all of the above with a spritz of cologne/fragrance all of the above with yeast to produce CO2
